Tiffany Falls

The other day we had the opportunity to slip away to somewhere with a little bit more green.

And a little bit more water.

Nothing like the sound of a babbling creek.

Nothing like the sight of a cascading falls,

This is my production period whereby I do nothing but build stock.
That means I am cutting printing and sewing just about everyday, when the girls and I aren't out walking.
The other day, coming home from one such "around the block" walk, I saw my coreopsis hugging the black iron urn. The blacks and blues and rust of the urn looked so nice juxtaposed with the yellow.

Hope you are not too freaked out by this. I do realize that without the history, it can look a little disturbing, especially for the start of a new week. But I was cleaning one of the rooms in the house and came across it.
This was a much loved dolly. It's body was replace at least too time because it was loved so much. Her hair, as you can see, is beyond belief: so matted and lost.

She was first found at a flea market, in a box along with so many other little dolls.
She was pulled out and hugged.
She was a keeper.
And was named "Dolly".
Our little girl went up to the old man who was selling his collections and gave him a kiss which I am sure he remembered for the rest of the day.

Mini Bee

Sparrow Avenue, Mini Bee Pouch
There is now a mini Bee pouch to accompany the larger one that I was making a few weeks ago. This one is really cute as it is 4 in. x 3.75 in. and it has a nice antique brass zipper. Hopefully I will have it in the shop very soon.

Have a lovely weekend.

Sparrow Avenue at the Art Gallery of Ontario

Sparrow Avenue at the Art Gallery of Ontario
Out and about the other day having coffee with Paula Lukey who I had met last year at one of the shows. We had promised ourselves that we would one day get together and now we finally did. Even if you are self-employed and can manage your own time, it is still very difficult to get away from the studio.
Later in the day I dropped off more product at the AGO and had a chance to see it on display.

Dogs, Dogs, Dogs

copyright Barbara Di Lella, drawing sketch of Fred, 2017
Fred is a white Frenchie ( a French Bull Terrier) who has the body of one who works out at the gym on a very regular basis. He's all muscle and power especially in those shoulders! Fred has to be around 8 now and he has extremely strong heart strings wrapped around his owner.
My girls went for a visit just once and it was an experience that didn't require repeating. Fred let out and unearthly scream at the audacity of these two invaders into his territory! We bee-lined into the back yard and never stepped back into the house again. For some strange reason, Fred had no problem with the girls being in his backyard.

Some dogs just instantly dislike others.

I know Schnauzers have a particular dislike of Sonee. I don't know why. They just do. All of them. We keep away from Schnauzers.

On the other hand, Roxy has never run into any problem with other breeds.

Well, almost never.

There was one Standard Poodle that wanted to be intimate with her. She let him no in no uncertain terms that he had crossed a line.

Another time a small female something-or-other attacked her for no apparent reason. I had to get in the middle of them as Roxy wasn't fighting back and she could easily have been hurt.

Well, so much for dog dynamic.
All I know is that responsible owners
love their dogs
and that's what counts.
a lot of abuse and misfortune
still exists out there
for some dogs.
(For all animals too,
if truth be told)

The Eco Lifestyle Market

The Eco Lifestyle Market

Hope the weekend wasn't to weird with all this bizaar weather we've been having: Rain, severe storms that sometimes happen and sometimes don't, hail that happens in one place but just a little ways away, nothing. Well, they chalk it up to "Climate Change". On the other hand, I've been through crazy storms before.

And sort of keeping on that note: The Eco Lifestyle Market is happening at the end of the month and you can find Sparrow Avenue there. Sunday August 27 at The Great Hall, 1087 Queen St. W. This will be the first show since the beginning of the summer and I'm looking forward to seeing you there. Hope you can come.
